A Frameless Glass Shower Design for Your Home

Gone are the days, when hanging a curtain over your bathtub was in vogue. Apart from looking tacky, it used to hide all the beautiful stone or tile work behind it. Frameless shower designs bring your bathroom to life and are more revealing. Bathrooms have evolved and they are not just the place to take a quick shower anymore… they are an extension of your personality.

Don’t be fooled into thinking shower glasses are fragile. In addition to being elegant and aesthetically pleasing, they are tough. They come in a variety of thickness and they are sturdy. Frameless shower glasses have no metal parts, making them ideal candidates as there’s no fear of corrosion.

Frameless showers are aesthetically pleasing compared to the framed showers counterparts. The metal edges on the framed showers appear bulky. Framed showers give your bathroom a box like feeling and the metal parts require thorough cleaning without which it could turn black over time.

With frameless glass showers, you wouldn’t have to deal with such an eyesore. The minimalist frameless glass helps you show off and accentuate the bathroom tile design and also the bath fixtures and floorings. With no visible lines, a frameless shower gives your bathroom a spa like feeling.

Another advantage of a frameless glass shower, is the ease of maintenance. You don’t have to worry about corrosion, and also a special coating will make your shower glass soap scum and watermarks resistant. This minimizes the risks of mold collection inside the shower enclosure. And it also means keeping your shower clean will be effortless.

With custom glass shower enclosures, you have the option to create a space that is unique. If you have a small space, for example, you could save on space by installing sliding doors instead of swivel doors.

Fixtures for your custom shower should be well thought out. You can choose from multiple ranges of products to make your shower area look great. Grab bars and hand showers should be accessible and the water from the shower shouldn’t be aimed at the door.

Frameless showers are rightfully popular as they are aesthetically superior and have a wide range to choose from. Some of the options available in frameless shows are:

  • U-channel and Clips to hold your frameless shower enclosure. A “U” shaped metal, is screwed into the wall, to hold the glass shower enclosure. The amount of metal is minimal and doesn’t obstruct the views of the frameless glass enclosure. Clips are even smaller and are virtually invisible.

  • You could choose between a 3/8” or a ½” glass thicknesses for your shower. A thicker glass is a better investment as it doesn’t flex are more solid and stable. But a thinner one doesn’t really make a difference to the normal person in terms of looks. A thinner glass will cost the same for labor and material, but for a little extra the thicker glass would last longer.

  • Clear glass and various effects on the glass like bubble, rain, etched and frosted are the many options available for glasses to use for your shower doors.

Frameless glass shower doors are installed using a technology that keeps it airtight. This also helps keep water from spilling outside the shower area.
